Slawn, known for reflecting themes of human psychology, politics and race in his art, has followed in the footsteps of Dame Vivienne Westwood, Sir Peter Blake, Tracey Emin, Dame Zaha Hadid, Sir David Adjaye, Es Devlin and Yinka Ilori to design the statue for the 2023 BRIT Awards.

The Nigerian born, London based artist, who’s also designed street/skatewear as part of the Lagos born collective, Motherlan, and been championed by Virgil Abloh and Skepta, brought his signature playful design to the prestigious trophy, removing the traditional helmet on the bronze sculpture and replacing it with cartoonish heads. Speaking about the collaboration, the 22 year old said ‘I wanted to design an award that had a sense of refinement and playfulness at the same time... I wanted to convey feelings of gratitude and celebration since I know that opportunities such as this don't come along very frequently for individuals like myself’.
